🌿Ecologist / Senior Ecologist – Truro, Cornwall

Cornwall Environmental Consultants (CEC) Ltd are seeking an experienced consultant Ecologist or Senior Ecologist to join our respected team based near to Truro, Cornwall. Part time and full-time applicants are welcome.

The practice

CEC works throughout Cornwall and the south-west of England. We are a business with a purpose, returning our profits to our parent organisation, Cornwall Wildlife Trust (CWT). Since our establishment in 1992 we have raised over £2m for CWT, allowing them to protect nature and our landscapes.

We work on a variety of projects, from small habitat surveys to complex development projects and everything in between. We provide the ecological input to some of the largest and most complex schemes in the southwest. We have an in-house landscape architecture team to allow us to develop biodiverse planting schemes to achieve Biodiversity Net Gain solutions, and we work on UK wide projects within the wider Wildlife Trust network. We have the largest team of Building with Nature assessors in the southwest and pride ourselves on the quality of schemes we deliver. In addition to our development work we work with many landowners across the southwest, including statutory and non-statutory bodies and local authorities, to deliver schemes which are purely for environmental gain. These encompass a wide variety of protected and high value sites, from dunes to heathland and parkland.

We are a registered practice with both the Landscape Institute and CIEEM, and we hold ISO Certification, including SSIP (Safety Schemes in Procurement) Approval in ISO9001 – Quality, ISO14001 – Environment and ISO45001 – Health & Safety.

Want to work for a different type of environmental consultancy?

One with purpose at the heart?

For the last 30 years, we’ve been delivering for our clients and supporting nature in Cornwall.

We’re fully owned by Cornwall Wildlife Trust, so doing the right thing for nature is part of our DNA. In fact, we’ve given over £1.3m of profit back to the trust.

We’re privileged to work on some of the biggest projects in the South West, and we’ve built a great team with a wide range of skills and experience.

We work on both development and environmental growth projects across some of Cornwall’s most iconic habitats. Working with many statutory and non statutory bodies we have a diverse range of projects, many of which are purely about habitat management or creation.

We are really proud to be the consultancy arm of Cornwall Wildlife Trust (CWT). All of our profits are returned to CWT, meaning we work for a purpose and have the opportunity to help CWT deliver nature both on their own land, and on land they help others to manage.

Since CEC was established in 1992 it’s delivered over £1.3m back to the trust, enabling the delivery of nature conservation projects across Cornwall.

We believe that work should be rewarding and enjoyable, and with a mix of ongoing personal development, a close-knit team and a clear growth plan, we’ve created a great place for ecologists who love nature.

We are family-friendly and work flexibly, and our high level of employee retention is something we are proud of, with many of the team having been with CEC for more than 15 years.

If you think this sounds interesting please contact us; we’re always keen to hear from people who are on the same wavelength and want to be part of our story.

Interested in how we can help?

We’re always happy to chat and share our experience; get in touch and let’s chat about your project, and we’ll help you to move forward.
