MoRPH Surveys

The MoRPh survey is a river assessment and monitoring tool which CEC ecologists can undertake for your project. MoRPH generates data on habitat condition that is input to the riverine metric for Biological Net Gain, and is needed if your project either has a watercourse within it, or is within 10m of a watercourse.

The MoRPh survey technique uses over 30 indicators recorded during a field survey to record the physical structure of a river channel and its margins. This results in a preliminary condition score for a section of river. This data and other spatial data is then used to identify the river type and also the final condition score, which reflects what is achievable for that river type.

CEC has qualified surveyors in MoRPH surveys to help with any projects involving rivers.
