Mitigation, Licences & Management

Planning conditions for mitigation and monitoring can include Landscape and Ecological Management Plans (LEMP), Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMP) and Net Gain Plans.

Our CEC team has extensive experience in ecological monitoring and mitigation and can produce or add input to these plans as needed for your project.  CEC’s experienced ecologists can also apply for mitigation licences for a wide range of protected species.

The level of input required will vary from project to project, but may include:

  • Obtaining licences for disturbance to species (e.g. bats)
  • Updating ecological surveys prior to start of construction
  • Advising on project programme to minimise impacts on wildlife (e.g. nesting birds)
  • Advising on Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) credits (if not done prior to planning or in response to small changes in design)
  • Watching briefs and/or supervision during work in sensitive parts of a site (e.g. vegetation clearance)
  • Producing Net Gain Plans to demonstrate how your project will deliver a biodiversity net gain
  • Writing LEMPs or CEMPs that are often pre-commencement conditions

We aim to maintain continuity, so a project manager will follow your project for as long as you need our input. This will benefit you, as the project manager will be familiar with the site, so require less time to familiarise themselves with the project.
