Natasha Collings-Costello joined CEC as Managing Director in 2020. Natasha holds a 1st MEnv Sci focused on Ecology and Environmental Science from the University of Southampton and has achieved Chartered Environmentalist and Chartered Scientist.Natasha is a full member of CIEEM, the author of Cornwall Council’s Biodiversity Supplementary Planning Document, and a contributing author to Cornwall Council’s Climate Change Development Plan Document, Cornwall Council’s European Protected Sites Supplementary Planning Document, and British Standard BS42021.

Jenny joined CEC in 2004 and is now Associate Ecologist. She leads the Developer team, and is in charge of resourcing and tender coordination. Jenny undertakes a wide range of ecology work, including UK Habitat Surveys; dormouse, badger, reptile surveys/ advice; EcIA (including for EIA); HRA; BNG advice and calculations; licensing, and MoRPh.

Steve has worked for CEC for over 22 years and specialises in habitat surveys, botany, land management advice and Habitats Regulations Assessment (HRA), as well as holding licences for badgers, bats and dormice.

Cathy has worked for CEC since June 2017. She is a multi-skilled ecologist having over 9 years’ experience working in this field. She undertakes a wide variety of ecology consultancy work and project manages some of our more complex projects. Cathy holds various species licences, including bat class 2, dormice, barn owl and great crested newt.

Emily joined CEC in 2021 and has experience in both ecological and geological consultancy, making her a skilled practitioner of Phosphate Impact Assessments, Contaminated Land, and ecological impact assessment (EcIA).

Louise is a Chartered Landscape Architect with over 24 years’ experience in both the public and private sectors covering the management and delivery of a wide range of environmental projects.

Throughout her career she has worked on a wide range of landscape and urban design schemes including public parks and open spaces, green infrastructure, green town development, urban regeneration projects, airports, business parks, civic squares, hotels and tourist accommodation, highways schemes and streetscapes, commercial premises, residential and mixed-use development, school grounds, play areas, hospitals and sheltered accommodation, country parks, coastal village improvements/protection schemes, energy sectors schemes, landfill restoration, mineral reclamation schemes and habitat restoration and creation projects.

Kathryn is a Chartered Landscape Architect (CMLI) who joined CEC in 2022 having previously worked for Cornwall Council.

Kathryn has over 25 years experience in the public sector in Cornwall providing advice and guidance on the landscape and visual impact of major development, preparing landscape character and settlement edge assessments, appearing as an expert witness at planning appeals, and has undertaken the project management and delivery of a range of schemes in Cornwall including the Mineral Tramway Project, and a number of town enhancement schemes.

Dave has worked for CEC for 16 years

Dave is experienced in bat and barn owl surveys, reporting, mitigation licensing, project management and client liaison on small and large scale developments, including house extensions, barn conversions, schools, residential/ business developments and road improvement schemes.

Steve has worked for CEC for over 18 years. Steve’s work includes everything from simple bat and owl assessments to project management, surveying and reporting on large scale developments and road schemes.

Anna joined CEC in April 2025 having worked in ecological consultancy since 2022. She is a full member of CIEEM and qualified tree climber, holding licences for bats (level 2), barn owl, dormouse and beaver. Through managing a large infrastructure project in Dorset, Anna is also an accredited agent on a smooth snake survey licence and is working towards a great crested newt licence. Anna holds a 1st-class BSc (Hons) in Conservation Biology & Ecology and is currently studying an MSc in Ecological Restoration alongside her work as a Senior Ecologist at CEC. Anna has a keen interest in dung beetles and regenerative agriculture and enjoys working on bat trapping projects and bird ringing outside work.

Bruce is a freshwater ecologist and experienced Biodiversity Net Gain practitioner, with a particular skill for handling large data sets. Bruce works up many of the tenders for CEC, and as past LPA Ecologist, leads on the planning review process CEC provides for several local authorities.

Hannah joined CEC in June 2023 as an Assistant Ecologist, returning to work as an Assistant Ecologist after a career break.  She previously worked as an Ecologist for a consultancy, as an Environmental Advisor looking after protected species on the canals in the midlands, and as a Countryside Surveyor, surveying habitats and species throughout South Wales.    She is enjoying getting out on Preliminary Ecological Appraisals and refreshing her skills.

Rebecca joined CEC in January 2024 as an Assistant Ecologist, after working in ecological consultancy for 2 years. Rebecca has experience undertaking an array of protected species surveys, is particularly interested in bats and is keen to continue working towards gaining a bat survey licence.

She holds an MSc in environmental science and a BSc in ecology and has experience in a range of protected species surveys, as well as Preliminary Ecological Appraisals and Biodiversity Net Gain assessments.

Alex joined CEC as an Assistant Ecologist in June 2026. She holds a first-class MSc in Entomology and a BSc in Zoology with Animal Behaviour. Prior to starting at CEC, she was a researcher in the agricultural sector, specialising in plant-parasitic nematodes. Alex has experience in a range of protected species surveys and aquatic invertebrate surveys, as well as Preliminary Ecological Appraisals and Biodiversity Net Gain Assessments.

Karen joined CEC in 2021. She has vast administration skills that are vital to the smooth running of CEC’s day to day activities.

Karen looks after a range of business related aspects of the company including managing CEC’s current Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental ISO Standards ensuring these accreditations are met on an annual basis.
