Promoting environmental protection in Cornwall
Recently, two of our ecologists headed to Penryn College Careers Week to meet students and run mock interviews.
Anna Tomlin and Sorcha Haydon-Guppy – both ecologists in our Infrastructure team, interviewed year 10 students, helping them build confidence, strengthen their communication skills and prepare them for the next chapter. Many of the students interviewed were keen to learn more about what it’s like to work in ecology. Anna and Sorcha talked them through entry requirements, qualifications and different specialisms.
Inspiring the next generation is key to enabling the natural world to thrive. We’re seeing the effects of climate change grow stronger every day: unprecedented high temperatures, extreme weather events, and the collapse of numbers of even our most common species, like starlings and hedgehogs. CEC is fully owned by Cornwall Wildlife Trust and our profits go back to the trust. As part of our commitment to supporting nature, we actively seek out opportunities to connect with young people and encourage them to act for nature and their environment.
